"I arrived with associations of Duchamp's work and was surprised twice! I expected to find something large, flat, and colorful inside... simply because that's what was in my mind. Instead, I met a small, white, fragile, and delicate 'woman' made of paper, gently swaying in silence inside a tree trunk constructed so aesthetically. I couldn't help but be taken aback at first, then reconsider what I was seeing, instantly thinking of Aliza... or, if you will, Alice in Wonderland. That feeling of suddenly sensing the artist, or 'seeing' her through a new lens, is truly moving to me. The tree's protection, the stillness of the small 'woman' who is actually not so fragile, perhaps even the one holding up the entire surrounding structure, and maybe not so 'small' after all. The neutralizing, sometimes unifying white color; the branches composed of so many types of wood... and make no mistake, their use is deliberate and rooted in the family story. One could go on and on about this piece... like the attempt to revive the cut trunk, the reuse of wood that has already lived several lives and returns as a creation destined to deconstruct once more... and so much more... In short, I've gone on a bit of a morning ramble... but I just had to. The experience is still very much with me." — Michal Levy
