Babylon Towers - Tel Aviv

Aliza Ashkenazi and Avital Baron Izackov – Contemporary Babylon, a World of Chaos and Division The Towers of Babylon was created collaboratively by Ashkenazi and Baron Izackov, as a personal reaction to their sense of concern about the “black hole” threatening to envelop Israeli society. The Towers of Babylon is a contemporary interpretation of the mythological-biblical story of a homogeneous society that strived to glorify itself through a megalomaniacal construction project and was condemned to the punishment of division as a result. In the “contemporary Babylon” the reverse applies: Israeli society is divided, multicultural, and multilingual. There are individuals and groups that combat these characteristics, striving to realize an impossible, depersonalizing melting pot of national unity in the national project called the State of Israel. In a video loop of collage comprised of diverse visual languages, an impossible web of representations of urban landscapes and teetering towers is created. The collage’s combination of movement and stagnation represents the dizziness of an impossible life in multilayered chaos, which comes into order as a dynamic aesthetic.

עליזה אשכנזי ואביטל בר-און איזקוב – מגדלי בבל "מגדלי בבל" נוצרה בשיתוף פעולה בין אשכנזי ובר-און איזקוב, כתגובה אישית לתחושות הדאגה מה"חור השחור" המאיים לבלוע את החברה הישראלית. "מגדלי בבל" היא פרשנות עכשווית לסיפור המיתולוגי-מקראי על חברה הומוגנית שביקשה להאדיר עצמה בפרויקט בניה מגלומני ונענשה על כך בעונש הפילוג. ב"בבל העכשווית" המצב הפוך: החברה הישראלית מפולגת, רב תרבותית ורב שפתית. יש אנשים וקבוצות הנאבקים כנגד מאפייניה אלה מתוך השאיפה למימוש כור היתוך משטח ובלתי אפשרי לאחדות לאומית בפרויקט הנקרא מדינת ישראל. בוידאו-לופ של קולאז' המורכב ממגוון שפות ויזואליות נוצר מארג בלתי אפשרי בין ייצוגי נוף אורבני לבין מגדלים העומדים על בלימה. השילוב בקולאז' בין תנועה ותקיעות מייצג סחרור של חיים בלתי אפשריים בכאוס רב שכבתי, שמתארגן כאסתטיקה דינמית. עבודות הוידאו הוצגו במיצב וידאו כחלק מתערוכה קבוצתית. ״מסע בן כוכביות״, אצרה רותם ריטוב, גלריה זוזו, 2024 הצופה מוזמן להרפתקאה קוסמית ביקום (מרחב הרעיונות) לביקור בשמונה כוכביות שמונה עולמות שמונה מרחבים מוכרים זרים כל אחת מהכוכביות מייצגת מהות אחרת בקיומנו האנושי ומעוררת מחשבה על עצמנו ומקומנו בעולם על אף שכל כוכבית (גוף עבודות) היא עולם בפני עצמו של חוויות קיומיות סובייקטיביות כולן התהוו בתוך קונטקסט משותף - החיים העכשוויים על פני הגלובוס ובאופן ספציפי במיקום הגיאוגרפי ישראל.
